On 29 October 2026 in Qingdao, the parties approved an updated cooperation plan and signed a protocol setting out further work. Consultations in 2027 will cover e-commerce, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, and technical regulation.
The sixth Joint Commission meeting implementing the trade and economic cooperation agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and China was co-chaired by Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Trade Minister Andrey Slepnev and China’s International Trade Representative at ministerial level and Vice Minister of Commerce, Li Chenggang.
Citing EEC figures, Slepnev said China accounted for 36.2% of the EAEU’s total foreign trade in 2025. This indicator covers the union’s trade with China as a whole, rather than Russian–Chinese trade alone.
China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said participants reviewed implementation of the roadmap and discussed trade liberalisation and facilitation, trade remedies, customs cooperation and intellectual property. The roadmap was updated following the meeting. The agreed consultations in 2027 constitute further work on trading conditions; the announcement does not establish new specific product requirements or implementation dates.
